Everyone has been sharing the viral video of Durrell Smylie (IG: @durellyrellz) and quoting his “Where the money reside” phrase from his viral video. While we all want to be “where the money reside,” it looks like Durrell is making moves that will keep him where the money resides. According to Durrell’s instagram, he has merch that says “WHERE THE MONEY RESIDE” and seems to be in the process of trademarking the phrase. Smart move!
Durrell wants to get a successful trademark for his phrase before it is considered to be “a commonplace term, message, or expression widely used by a variety of sources that merely conveys an ordinary, familiar, well-recognized concept or sentiment” by the trademark office. This is what happened when Cardi B attempted to trademark “Okurrr!” The trademark office considered "Okurrr" to be a commonly used phrase and denied her application.
Let's work together to get your slogan, name, or logo trademarked so you can be #WhereTheMoneyReside!
